Opened in early 2025, South Gate Noodle (N·M小南门) is a hidden gem tucked away in Alhambra’s West Valley Boulevard, serving up authentic Xi’an (Shaanxi) and Sichuan cuisine with serious flavor and even more serious portions.
This casual spot specializes in hand-pulled noodles that are thick, chewy, and generously heaped into every bowl and plate. If you’re a noodle lover, this place is a dream—don’t miss the cumin beef dry noodles or the comforting beef soup noodles. The egg tomato dry noodles are another standout, offering a simple, nostalgic flavor that hits just right.
South Gate also shines with its lineup of Shaanxi street snacks and cold dishes, like chili-laced cold noodles, beef tripe, and crispy vegetable-stuffed flatbread. And for those who crave spice, the Sichuan side of the menu delivers with dishes like shredded pork with garlic sauce, hot pepper chicken, and the bubbling, fiery Mao Xue Wang.
