About

Right on Alhambra’s Main Street, Máncora Peruvian Cuisine is serving up the vibrant flavors of Peru in a warm, family-owned setting. At age 20, Jorge Wong came to the US as a student, working in restaurants while he went to school. Always wanting to open a restaurant of his own, Jorge found Alhambra and fell in love with its food scene. Inspired by recipes passed down by his family and with the help of his cousin, a culinary teacher in Peru, Jorge decided to open Máncora Peruvian Cuisine, bringing the taste of coastal Peru straight to the San Gabriel Valley.

Seafood is where they really shine. The Ceviche Máncora is the star of the show, loaded with fresh mahi-mahi, shrimp, calamari, mussels, and octopus, all marinated in tangy rocoto leche de tigre and lime. It comes with glazed sweet potato, Peruvian corn, crunchy chulpe corn, and plantain chips for the perfect mix of textures and flavors.

If you’re craving something hearty, the Lomo Saltado is a must. Tender filet mignon gets tossed with onions, tomatoes, aji amarillo, and soy sauce, then served alongside crispy fries and seasoned white rice. The Bistec a lo Pobre is another crowd-pleaser, stacked high with steak, fries, rice, sweet plantains, and a fried egg.

Pasta lovers will want the Tallarines Verdes con Bistec, where Peruvian-style pesto spaghetti meets juicy grilled steak or chicken. Or try the Arroz con Mariscos, a colorful plate of seafood and aromatic rice that’s loaded with flavor.

Wash it all down with an ice-cold Inca Kola or a glass of chicha morada and you’ve got yourself a full Peruvian experience. With generous portions, friendly service, and an exciting menu, Máncora Peruvian Cuisine is the kind of place you’ll want to come back to—whether it’s for a quick lunch or a big family dinner.
