About
Baja Mar Taco opened on Valley Boulevard in Alhambra this March, continuing a family seafood business that began in Monrovia more than 20 years ago. Owners Jose and Nancy operated their first location there from 2004 to 2008 before opening their current Pico Rivera restaurant in 2013. The family had long hoped to join Alhambra’s vibrant dining scene. “We’ve always wanted to open a location in Alhambra, but the right opportunity hadn’t come along,” shared Abraham, Jose and Nancy’s son. “When we saw an option in March, we decided to take it.”
Fish and shrimp tacos shine as the restaurant’s most popular orders, putting Baja-style seafood front and center. Baja Mar Taco also runs a different special each weekday: discounted shrimp tacos on Mondays, cocktelitos on Tuesdays, fish tacos on Wednesdays, and burritos on Thursdays. Plan your first visit around a weekday special to sample the restaurant’s seafood at a discount, especially if you want to try both taco favorites.
The goal for the family goes beyond serving tacos. Their vision is for Baja Mar Taco to become a gathering place where families and friends come together over the flavors and traditions of Baja. That vision draws on the family’s years in the restaurant business and the recipes they have shared with customers along the way. At the new Alhambra location, they’re building on that history while introducing their take on Baja-style seafood to a new set of neighbors.
