About

You Kitchen’s foundation all started from the owner, Mary Shao’s family dumpling recipes that have been passed down from many generations. Mary has always been involved in the restaurant industry and saw the opportunity for more authentic and better-tasting dumplings available in 2018, she decided to dive in and open one of Alhambra’s best-tasting Chinese restaurants.

Owner, Mary has decades-long experience working for Sichuan restaurants and even established the iconic China Mama restaurant in Las Vegas. However years after running these successful eateries, she has decided to run a traditional “mom-and-pop” dumpling shop and serve her specialties in Alhambra – a city Mary has always adored.

The restaurant may be known for its selection of tasty and authentic items on its menu but they believe that the love, passion, and thought behind the food they serve is what makes them unique among the Chinese eateries in the city. “Dumplings are kinda niche, different regions prefer different ingredients. You have the die-hards for Chinese celery, for cilantros, for lamb, for the fennel, or my family’s personal favorite “Sanxian”, the shrimp pork and chive. They all serve one purpose, bring the state of nostalgia to the diners, back home, where their parents used to prepare for them, back to the traditional hand-crafting way of preparing dishes that had long been buried under ever-growing technology and industrialization.”, Jenny, Mary’s daughter added.
