The early 2000s was lacking a variety of restaurants that offered Taiwanese cuisine in Alhambra, including simple meals, street snacks, and boba drinks. Recognizing this gap in the market, the owners of Lollicup Fresh Alhambra saw an opportunity to not only cater to the nostalgic taste buds of Taiwanese immigrants but also introduce the local American community to the authentic flavors of Taiwan. In 2001, they opened their first Lollicup Fresh store in Alhambra, embarking on a journey that would delight taste buds and leave a lasting impression on the community.
The restaurant’s owner, Kevin, is an immigrant from Taiwan and is the driving force behind Lollicup Fresh. His passion for food and his desire to introduce others to the diverse flavors of Taiwanese cuisine motivated him to establish the restaurant.
