7 Leaves Cafe Alhambra

About

From its humble beginnings as a small coffee shop in a Westminster strip mall in 2011, 7 Leaves Cafe has grown to a veritable enterprise with 42 locations across California and the country.

It was founded by a band of brothers – Vinh, Quang, Son, and Ha Nguyen – who quit their stable careers to chase their dreams. But fearing the disappointment of their parents, who fled Vietnam to settle in Orange County in the 1990s, they didn’t tell them until the opening of their fifth location.

The name 7 Leaves was inspired by the seven ingredients used in the cafe’s herbal tea blend. They offer a unique selection of Vietnamese-inspired drinks including mung bean milk tea and traditional Vietnamese coffee. You also can’t go wrong with their jasmine tea topped with their signature salty sea cream.

It was the second-eldest brother, Quang, who took the lead in opening the first shop. While traveling Thailand, he watched street vendors make and sell Thai tea and coffee. In Vietnam, he explored Saigon looking for the best iced coffee in the city.

“If we can only bring this coffee to the U.S. – how great would that be?,” he thought to himself, Quang said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.

Now, 7 Leaves has franchised and continues to expand every year. Their stores also feature a colorful array of macarons, baked in-house. Stop by the Alhambra location or visit the drive-thru today!
