About
With over two decades of experience in the restaurant industry, the founders of Jiang Nan Spring first built their reputation in Arcadia, where they ran a restaurant for 12 years, followed by another nine years in San Gabriel. Their journey eventually led them to Alhambra, thanks to a well-timed opportunity.
“We were fortunate with the timing,” co-owners Frances and Owen shared. “The previous Middle Eastern restaurant owner had the restaurant for 30 years and they were selling it. We had a good conversation with them, and we really liked the location and the Alhambra community, so we decided to start Jiang Nan Spring here.”
At the heart of the restaurant’s success is executive chef Henry Chang, a culinary master with over 47 years of experience. Starting his training as a teenager, Chef Chang honed his craft at prestigious restaurants and hotels in Taiwan, earning him a respected reputation in the industry. His expertise has helped Jiang Nan Spring earn Michelin recognition twice, solidifying its status as a must-visit dining destination.
Specializing in authentic Shanghai cuisine, Jiang Nan Spring’s menu features signature dishes, including delicate Shanghai Xiao Long Bao, succulent Ruby Ribs, and flavorful Sichuan Twice Cooked Pork. The restaurant also offers a private dining room that seats up to 24 guests, making it an ideal venue for celebrations like Lunar New Year gatherings and other special occasions.
Beyond Alhambra, Jiang Nan Spring has also attracted high-profile guests, including Taiwanese elected officials and international delegates. For those seeking a refined yet welcoming space to enjoy authentic Chinese meals, Jiang Nan Spring continues to be a shining star in Alhambra’s food scene.
Our customers always come back for more. We believe it’s important to have a clean, comfortable dining environment. We want to have a Chinese restaurant with modern decor to stay current. We have a good mix of Asian and non Asian customers, and they enjoy the authentic food.
