Drive by Da Vien in Westminster or Garden Grove and you might see lines out the door. Da Vien is famous for its specialty Vietnamese coffee, which is traditionally brewed using a phin filter and sweetened with condensed milk. The result is a strong, sugary coffee that’s growing in popularity in Los Angeles thanks to Vietnamese cafes like Da Vien.
If you’ve heard of it but don’t want to make the drive down to OC, good news! Da Vien is coming to Alhambra later this year.
Founded in 2021 by husband-and-wife duo Vinny and Anne Nguyen, Da Vien is expanding rapidly thanks to the support of loyal customers and those excited to taste one of its signature drinks. The newest store — and first location in LA County — is in Cerritos, which drew a line around the block for its grand opening in May.
The upcoming Alhambra location is just one of nine new stores they’re planning to open, which is an investment of nine million dollars to bring Da Vien, and the culture of Vietnamese coffee, all around Los Angeles. Vinny Nguyen grew up visiting Alhambra and SGV, so he’s excited to open more Da Vien cafes in the area.
“It’s going to be a special design for Alhambra,” he said. They put a lot of care and effort into making each store special, with a focus on creating a space that feels welcoming and enjoyable for their guests, along with serving drinks that are both delightful to drink and social media-worthy.
While an opening date hasn’t been announced for the Alhambra store, the Nguyens are planning lots of exciting things for the grand opening. What exactly they’re planning is still a secret, so “you’ll have to come out and see,” Nguyen said.
